Thesis Abstract / Summary:

The study focuses on the assessment and compilation of Ilocano songs, poems and short stories for Grade III MTB-MLE curriculum, as it was anchored on the concept that the quality of teaching greatly depends on the availability and used of instructional materials.

Based on the result of the study, the compiled materials motivate users to read and write more because it is visually appealing where in the illustrations matches with the corresponding messages and help the users widen their sense of aesthetic appreciation (of what is beautiful). It encourages teachers to create supplementary materials in response to their learners' particular needs after realizing that native language competence is a prerequisite for success in other curriculum areas.

There is a need of compiling Ilocano songs, poems, and short stories, for teachers to use as their springboard in teaching under the new MTB-MLE curriculum.
