Paper Abstract / Summary:

The primary purpose of the study was to assess and prove the effectiveness of 5E Instructional Model in the learning achievement of Grade 5 pupils in Science and Health 5 at St. Paul College of Paranaque during the school year 2013-2014.
The quasi-experimental method of research which uses the one group pretest and posttest design was used with the pretest and posttest as the main instrument. The subject was equated in terms of their mental ability as revealed in the result of the Otis-Lennon school ability test. The data gathered were treated statistically using the mean, standard deviation and t-test.
After the data were gathered and tallied, the computed, the computed t-value was 8.54 which was greater than the tabular value of 2.069 at .05 level of significance, thus there was a significant difference in the pretest result and the posttest of the experimental group.
It was found out in this study that pupils who were exposed to 5E instructional model is effective. Mean of 5.21 difference of the pretest and posttest implies that significant learning occurred and therefore 5E Instructional Model was effective in the learning process of the pupils.
