Gulayan sa Paaralan is one of the programs which promotes vegetable gardening within schools in the Philippines. This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of Gulayan sa Paaralan Program (GPP) in Tambo Elementary School, Lanao del Norte, Philippines in terms of pupils perception on importance of vegetables, extent of hands-on learning and the factors associated with the effectiveness of the Program. Data from 78 respondents were gathered using semi-structured questionnaire and analyzed using frequency counts, percentage, mean and correlation analysis. Results of the study show that GPP is highly effective in terms of developing positive outlook, interest and practical experience in vegetable gardening, preference in eating vegetables among pupils and obtaining parental support. Through GPP the pupils love and enjoy planting vegetables and upon knowing its importance they learn to appreciate eating vegetables. The effectiveness of GPP is significantly associated with the pupil’s interest on the program, parental support, and extent of hands-on learning. This suggests positive effect of GPP to the development of pupils’ favorable attitude towards vegetable gardening through direct and meaningful learning experience with collaboration from home or parental support.
