Awareness And Preparedness Among Agricultural Education Students Of Mindanao State University, Marawi City On The K-12 Basic Education Program

Thesis Abstract / Summary:

The school year 2014 – 2015 marked as the beginning of K-12 Basic Education Program implementation in the Philippines. This study assessed the awareness and preparedness on the K-12 Basic Education program among Agricultural Education students of Mindanao State University, Marawi City. Data from 94 respondents were gathered using semi-structured and analyzed using frequency counts, percentage, mean and correlation analysis. The results of the study show that Agricultural Education students are highly aware on the components of K-12 Basic Education Program from Kindergarten, Elementary Education, Junior and Senior High School including respective subjects, medium of instruction, transition and guidelines. They perceived to be highly prepared to teach agriculture subjects in the K-12 Curriculum such as; Horticulture, Landscape Installation and Maintenance, Organic Agriculture Production, Pest Management, Rice Machinery Operation, Animal Production, and Fish Nursery Operation. Their extent of awareness and preparedness on the K-12 Basic Education Program is significantly associated with their year level. This indicates high exposure among agricultural education students to the program with high confidence in teaching agriculture subjects in the K-12 Curriculum as they advanced in year level.
