Paper Abstract / Summary:

This study aimed to determine the relationship among instructors and professors’ self-efficacy and effectiveness. Specifically, it aims to determine the level of self-efficacy and effectiveness of instructors and professors in terms of student engagement, use of instructional strategies, and classroom management when grouped according to sex, age, civil status, teaching experience, educational attainment, curriculum taught, and academic rank. The descriptive-correlational method of research was employed in this study. The respondents were the 43 instructors and professors of Philippine Normal University Negros Occidental Branch. The data in this study were obtained using the teacher’s sense of efficacy skills developed originally by Albert Bandura. Statistical test such as the mean and PPM were used to determine the level and significant correlation between self-efficacy and effectiveness. Findings revealed that the level of self-efficacy of instructors and professors was high while the level of effectiveness was average when facets were taken as a whole and individually. Likewise, results reveal that there is a significant relationship between self-efficacy and effectiveness of instructors and professors. In this regard, the study concludes that instructors and professors have strong beliefs that they can do something better towards their students. Likewise, instructors and professors’ self-efficacy is related to their effectiveness in terms of student engagement, use of instructional strategies, and classroom management. Along this line, it is recommended that instructors and professors should strive and exert efforts in giving quality instructions to their students. They are likewise encouraged to attend seminars, trainings and workshops on the current trends and practices in teaching to varied groups of learners.
