The performance of tomato seedlings rely mainly on the kind of variety being used if it can resist to harsh environmental condition or not and the method of extraction that was employed. This study was conducted to determine the effects of different methods of extraction as of manual (fermentation) and chemical (hydrochloric acid) to germination of two varieties of tomato (dwarf green and dwarf white varieties). It was carried out using Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments (two varieties and two methods of extraction combination) and three replications.
Results showed that all treatments had higher than 80% germination rate which is considered above the germination percentage. By using chemical method on dwarf green variety (T3) showed the highest germination rate among treatment means. However, chemical using dwarf white varieties (T4) still gave promising result with treatment using manual and dwarf green (T1). Lowest germination rate was derived from manual using dwarf white variety (T2). However, even if lowest germination percentage in T2 (manual using dwarf white variety), it has the highest average germination rate per day.
